I have an action oriented style, and will be actively working with you. I am not someone who will simply listen to you. I will be teaching you the skills to make you self sufficient outside of counseling sessions.
My clients describe me as conversational, calm, and “down to earth”. I have also been told that I should use my voice for a meditation app (lol!).
I love to see women get back a sense of control in their lives. I have spent a lot of time building my own self confidence and recognizing that it is okay to put myself first when needed.
I identify as a first generation Indian American woman. While in high school, I relocated to the United States from New Delhi, India with my parents and brother. I have had my own struggles with balancing multiple identities, dealing with familial/societal obligations, and living up to the pressure of being a “model minority”. My experience allows me to connect with those who share similar challenges as mine.
I also speak Hindi and Urdu.
During our first few sessions, we will gather your background history and build a personalized plan highlighting your goals.
In follow up sessions, we will work on these goals. You will be given small homework tasks (nothing impossible that you can’t handle) based on what we are working on each week. We will regularly check in on these to help you stay accountable.
Some of the research based approaches I use in counseling include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
You can learn more about my specific treatment approaches here.
Together we can empower you to create the life you want. Reach out to me today and lets get to work.
